F1DB's race result, which the race records follow, has Piquet DNS, with a transmission failure, from ninth on the grid, and formula1.com's results archive, read on 9 October 2026, gives him DNS with no laps. formula1.com's page for the same race as archived in February 2014, which the race's Wikipedia article cites, gave him retired on lap 0 with a transmission failure from ninth on the grid, which is a start, and so does the article. Alan Henry's report in Motor Sport, July 1985, says that in the race he succumbed to terminal gearbox problems on the opening lap. One race read two ways, and formula1.com has given both.
