Four small front wheels hide inside the body: less frontal area, more braking and cornering rubber

Six wheels, with four 10-inch front tyres

It worked. Scheckter and Depailler finished first and second at Anderstorp in 1976 and Tyrrell was third in the championship. It stopped working because Goodyear had no reason to keep developing a tyre size only one team used, so the front tyres fell behind while everyone else's improved. The 1977 car was heavier and slower, the idea was dropped, and the rules were later changed to require exactly four wheels.

30 races, 1 win, 1 pole, 14 podiums - the only six-wheeled car ever to win a World Championship race.
