Mercedes F1 W11
DAS was spotted on television during pre-season testing, ruled legal for 2020 and banned for 2021 in the same breath. The W11 won 13 of 17 races in a season compressed and reordered by the pandemic, and holds the outright lap record at most circuits it visited.

Why it mattered
The idea. Let the driver change the front wheel toe angle by pulling the steering wheel towards him on the straights
New on this car. Dual Axis Steering (DAS), which traded straight-line drag against cornering grip and tyre warm-up within a lap
What it did. 17 races, 13 wins, 15 poles. Hamilton's seventh title, equalling Schumacher, and Mercedes's seventh consecutive constructors' championship.

A blank is a figure nobody published for this car. Where several teams quote the same number in a season it is usually the rule they were all built to rather than a measurement, so it is kept with the regulation limits instead of here.

Photographs
From Wikimedia Commons, each shown with the photographer and licence its terms require.
A photograph marked unchecked has a file name that does not name the car it is shown for. Most are still the right car, filed under the driver rather than the machine — but nobody has confirmed these one by one.
