How it is derived
sprint_results rows with grid = 1, over the 30 sprints held since 2021: a sprint pole is the front of the sprint grid, as the ruling on WK-08 (#643) defines it, not first place in sprint qualifying, from which a grid penalty can move a driver back. Of the 24 sprints since 2023 whose sprint qualifying is held, the driver it classified first started from sprint pole in every one. A sprint pole is not a Grand Prix pole, which is what drivers.poles counts, but one driver can hold both on a weekend: at 12 of these sprints the driver on sprint pole was also credited with the Grand Prix pole, at every sprint in 2022. Next: Lando Norris on 5, Oscar Piastri on 4, George Russell on 3, Sir Lewis Hamilton on 3.
